Frequently asked questions
Why do we have an Annual Giving Program?
Tuition and fund raising are the two most important sources of financing for Connelly. Tuition covers about 80% of the cost of educating each student. Fund raising is needed to close the gap between the actual cost of educating the students and the tuition paid by the parents. Annual Giving is the most significant piece of our fund raising efforts.

Why don't we just increase tuition to cover all costs and forget Annual Giving?
Schools that follow this path, or require mandatory contributions, limit themselves to an extremely wealthy clientele. We believe that Connelly should be as representative of our community as possible, striving to educate young women from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in the Holy Child tradition of academic excellence in a values-based environment.

Do the students benefit directly from my contribution?
Yes! Each student at Connelly benefits directly from the expenditures in the operating budget. Refurbishments and improvements to the buildings and grounds, as well as technical and equipment upgrades, enhance the girls' learning experience. Salary increases promote faculty retention and enable recruitment of competent and dedicated teaching candidates when openings occur. Small class size and individual attention to each student contribute to the overall quality of our educational program.

Is there a special importance to 100% participation in the Annual Giving Program?
Yes! When opportunities arise for foundation or corporate funding, one of the first questions we are asked is how much support we receive from the families who benefit directly from their involvement with Connelly and from alumnae who have benefited from Connelly's excellent education. If we can say that 100% of our families support the Annual Giving Program, our success in obtaining grants will be significantly increased. Your gift will help us receive assistance from private foundations and other sources outside the immediate Connelly family.

I would really like to give, but I just can't afford a large donation. What can I do?
Be assured that no gift is too small and our goal is to have high participation by giving what is appropriate for you. Every gift is important, respected, and needed! Your participation in our Annual Giving Program sends a positive message that the Connelly community is comprised of active and supportive parents, alumnae and friends.

I would like to contribute, but I can't afford to make a gift today. What can I do?
Your pledge payments may be spread over the school year. We ask that your pledge payments be completed by June 1.

What methods of giving are available?
Your pledge can be paid by check or credit card. For more information about gifts of securities and real property, please call the Development Office at (714) 776-1717 ext. 248.
