THREE-TIME BACK-TO-BACK CIF SS V-AA VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONS

           Connelly scores a Three- Peat!  Led by Co-captain and San Joaquin League MVP senior Christine Yost, and Co-captain and League Honorable Mention senior Jamie Shea, Connelly won its third straight CIF SS VAA  Volleyball Championship title.   After moving up one division from last year, and with a new coach and a new system, the team swept Coastal Christian of Arroyo Grande, 25-17, 26-24, and 25-14 on Saturday, November 22.   Coach Garry Currier credited "every player on this team" for helping win the championship.  The game leaders were Nicole "Nikki" Yost (1st Team All League) with 11 kills and 2 aces; Christine Yost with 20 digs, 22 passes off serves, and an ace; Gecelle DeGuia (1st Team All League) with 10 assists, 1 service ace and 3 kills; Kayla "the Kai" Rastgoo chipped in with 7 assists and a service ace; Kathleen Chelling (2nd Team All League) put away 6 kills; Chelsea Bowers made 5 kills; Nicole Han had a game changing "pancake" dig, a pass off her chest, and to top off the night had 5 kills and 3 aces.  Six of the Connelly players are former students from St. Hedwig in Los Alamitos and St. Ireneaus in Cypress.
